The beer

First, it’s a great beer.

Bright gold and easy to love. Four hops over a clean pilsner malt: citrus and tropical up top, a lift of pine, a crisp dry finish. Five percent, built for a second round. Brewed by Kaigan Brewery in an 1898 farmhouse in Minamiboso, a few hundred metres from the water it helps restore.

What’s worth bringing back

The coast is slipping away.

For centuries, Japan’s coast has been what its people painted, fished and ate. Much of it has vanished within living memory.

Eelgrass beds

Seto Inland Sea, 1960 to 1990. The nursery grounds where coastal fish begin.

−40%

Tidal flats

Lost nationally over the past 50 years. The ocean’s own filter.

This is the coast worth bringing back.

The impact

Every can brings a coast back.

There is no donation and nothing extra to buy. The moment the beer is brewed, the impact is funded, built into the price like the hops. Each batch backs one named coastline and the people already doing the work. Scan the can and follow it to the exact credit retired, in under a minute.

One coastline per batch, in rotation.

Sakushima, Aichi

Eelgrass meadow

For 22 years, the island’s schoolchildren have replanted this meadow by hand. It is the nursery where young fish shelter before they ever reach open water.

Tidal flat

The Seto Inland Sea’s own filter, and the birthplace of the clams and oysters a whole coast’s food is built on.

Kelp forest

Kombu is the soul of dashi. Local fishermen are turning barren isoyake seabed back into forest, the strongest carbon habitat in the whole scheme.

0.2 m² of living coast per can sits above the seabed line; 1 kg of CO₂ stays locked in the sediment below it, for 100+ years.

Explore every coast

You don’t have to trust us.

Every can opens a public record: the exact credit bought and retired for its batch, verified by an independent third party, certified by JBE (Japan’s blue carbon body), and aligned to the global ICVCM standard. Only carbon that stays locked for 100+ years even qualifies.

See how we prove it

You didn’t donate. You just had a beer. Japan’s coast is a little more alive because a lot of people did the same.

The art

The label is the gallery.

Each batch, one artist answers one coastline with full creative ownership of the can. A dedicated curator leads the programme, and every edition joins a permanent public record.

Meet the artists

Three beer cans in a row, each wearing a completely different artwork: ocean photography, a bright torn-paper collage, and a minimal geometric design

Three imagined editions. The gallery opens with Batch 01

The community

One beer. All of us.

Every venue that pours it and every person who drinks it is part of the same coast coming back. The numbers below belong to all of them.
